The U.S. Supreme Court once again has rejected a challenge to California’s ban on the debunked gay conversion therapy.
All 9 justices did not comment Monday in refusing to hear an appeal from a San Diego minister and several other co-plaintiffs who argued that the law violated their First Amendment religious freedoms.
The federal appeals court in San Francisco previously upheld the law in dismissing their constitutional challenge however the plaintiffs feeling embolden by the recent appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch, they were sure that they would have their case heard.
Gov. Jerry Brown signed the original ban legislation into law in late 2012. Since then, the Supreme Court has rejected efforts by religious right wing groups to upend the California law as well as a similar ban now the law in New Jersey.
