RALEIGH, NC — (12-02-21) — North Carolina’s anti-LGBTQ activist lieutenant governor Mark Robinson, the highest-ranking Black official in the state, confronted democratic state Sen. Julie Mayfield over her floor speech ‘Equating Black people with LGBT people’s struggles.

After her speech on the state Senate floor, Robinson confronted her in the hallway where he told her he was outraged how she equated violence against the Black community to the “hardships” of the LGBTQ community.

The heated exchange between Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson and state Sen. Julie Mayfield of Asheville was caught on video.

“Next time, before you get ready to say something on that floor, come see me,” Robinson told Mayfield, confronting her outside the chamber before abruptly turning and walking in the opposite direction.

“I don’t think it matters,” Mayfield is heard saying in response.

“Does she have to ask you before she speaks?” asked Sen. Natasha Marcus, another Democrat who represents Mecklenburg County told Robinson as he was leaving the scene.

“I don’t remember his exact words but it was something like ‘I don’t appreciate you comparing or equating Black people with gay people,’ and I said ‘that’s not what happened,’” Mayfield told WNCT in an interview following the incident. “That’s not what happened, that’s not what I was trying to do at all,” said Mayfield. “And then he launched into ‘you need to come see me if you have something to say to me.”

This isn’t the first time Lt Gov Robinson has taken it upon himself to attack the LGBTQ community. Back in October he called LGBTQ People ‘Filth’ and when confronted about him comments he doubled down.

In this reporter’s opinion, it’s obvious tha Lt Gov Mark Robinson has serious personal issues that he needs to work out in life because his never-ending attacks upon the LGBTQ community makes one wonder about what his true problem with Gay people!  #SelfHatingClosetQueen.
