HONOLULU, HI — (04-22-24) — LGBT Hawaiian citizens spoke out last Friday night on the importance of voting NO on the November ballot question of whether to rescind Article 23 from the state constitution. Amendment 23 gave the state legislature the power to legalize same-sex marriage back in 2013.

The Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation fought for that power for years, but now, supporters want it removed so a future legislature can’t change the marriage laws with their salem witch hunt ideology.

“Now that we see that relying on a Supreme Court precedent can come back to bite you, we see like in Arizona a law from 150 years ago is being used to deny people the right to an abortion, we don’t want a constitutional amendment from 25 years ago or 50 years ago in 25 years in the future to affect the right of people to marry,” said Coalition Chair Jeff Hong.

The group Pride365 is urging people not to leave the ballot question blank in November because doing so counts as a no-vote. Find more information on the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation Click Here.
