NEW YORK, NY — (12-26-21) — A bigot asshole who asked to borrow a gay man’s cellphone in a Manhattan subway station, slapped the gay man after seeing his background picture of the victim with his boyfriend on the cellphone, said police on Friday.

The hate crime happened at 2 a.m. on Nov. 15 on the D train platform of the 57th St.-7th Avenue station.

According to NYPD, the homophobic “Male suspect asked the 22-year-old victim if he could use his phone. That’s when the suspect allegedly became enraged after seeing the photo of the gay man and his boyfriend on the phone’s screen. The suspect then called the victim a homophobic slur and slapped him, leaving the victim with a fat lip, said NYPD.

The suspect then slammed the phone to the ground and left the station. The NYPD released pictures of the suspect wanted for the alleged hate crime assault. Thankfully the victim did not require medical attention.

The incident was reported to the Midtown North Precinct, which referred the case to the Hate Crimes Task Force for investigation. The victim suffered a swollen lip and bruising, but refused medical attention, said police.

On Dec. 24, the NYPD released a photo of the hateful homophobe, who has facial hair and wore a black hooded sweatshirt.
