ROME —  Now here is one for the record books.  For a country that has a record of showing little tolerance for its LGBTQ community, and who was the last in wester Europe to pass legislation allowing Same-Sex unions, we find out that Rome has been paying for Gay Sex Clubs to operate in the country.

Rome has a bad reputation for homophobic attacks with blatant public verbal and phyical attacks at schools, nightclubs, shopping centers, who would have ever thought that they would be paying for Gay men to conduct their sexual business with the help of the Italian government.

Now of course you are wondering how this could be!  Well, it turns out that Italy’s anti-discrimination office, UNAR, a governmental agency which is in charge of earmarks for hundreds of thousands of euro to companies and/or organizations that fight discrimination.

“Just open you’re ass or mouth and you’ve got culture… Cock Culture.”

Some say the organization hasn’t a clue about what constitutes actual support of the LGBTQ community in Italy.

After the story went viral thank to a special news report on the popular television show Le Iene (Hyenas), the group’s head Francesco Spano resigned on Monday night over the embarassement of the story. “Le Iene (Hyenas) exposed how, under Spano’s rule, the government agency had allocated nearly €180,000 in taxpayer funds to numerous associations that run private gay social clubs and saunas (bathhouses), across Rome.  Of course the show stated that these types of venues for Gay men claim that they specialize in “sleazy and unsafe sex and prostitution”.

This is of course another stigma conservatives put on Gay men.  While yes it is ture that bareback sex takes place in Gay sex clubs and Gay bathhouses, every business makes sure to have signs posted on the dangers of unprotected sex and, make sure that all patrons are given condoms upon entry.

The hit television show sent in a gay reporter undercover to three clubs in the capital that had  received €55,560 and tax-free status that offered massages and much more.

The story is going crazy in Italy but hardly getting any press in the USA.

When the reporter asked if the club engaged in any type of cultural activities for the Gay community, which by the way is a requirement of the Italian government to receive funding and tax-free status, the security guard was heard saying “Just open you’re ass or mouth and you’ve got culture… cock culture.”
