Hope for Wholeness Conversion Therapy Founder Admits He’s Gay

SPARTANBURG, SC — (09-03-19) — Founder of Hope for Wholeness Conversion Therapy, admits he is gay in an interview with  the Charleston Post and Courier last week.

The news sent shock waves in his community as 51-year-old McKrae Game, founder of the largest conversion therapy programs in the nation, comes out as gay.

McKrae Game came out as gay last week when he opened up in the interview with the Charleston Post and Courier about being gay.  He also condemned his past work creating the Hope for Wholeness ministries program  in the small town Spartanburg, South Carolina.

“Conversion therapy is not just a lie, but it’s very harmful, because it’s false advertising,” said McKrae Game, who was fired from the Hope for Wholeness organization he founded two years ago.

“I was a religious zealot that hurt people,” Game told the Post and Courier. “People said they attempted suicide over me and the things I said to them. People, I know, are in therapy because of me. Why would I want that to continue?” said Game.

Game also apologized for being a hypocrite in his past life and admitted that he takes full responsibility for the harm done to victims of Hope for Wholeness, saying, “I created it all. We have harmed generations of people.”

While 18 states including North Carolina, Maine, New York, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico have taken measures to bar conversion therapy programs from operating, the practice remains legal and promoted in South Carolina and other Bible Belt states.
