Virginia AG Doubles Down On His Gay Marriage Decision

RICHMOND, VA — Gay marriage continues to be a hot topic in the state of Virginia especially during an election season as attorney general Mark Herring who angered many anti-gay marriage voters when right after his inauguration back in 2014, he announced he would not defend the state’s constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

This shocked and angered many voters as Herring who is a Democrat, voted in favor of the gay marriage ban as a state senator in 2006. Now eight years later, as attorney general, he has seen the light and that light, has angered many voters.

Now those same voters are gunning for Herring as he seeks re-election. What better way to go after him than with anti-gay marriage talking points!

Herring is already become a punching bang of criticism from Republican challenger, John Adams (pictured right), who is also a strong opponent of same-sex marriage.

Herring told Associated Press in a recent interview…”We were right on the law and we were right for Virginia’s families. Standing up for people’s rights is what an attorney general should be doing.” said Herring.

Herring doubled down on Tuesday saying he isn’t fazed by all of the noise. He also made it a point to say that his position was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, which if you will remember, struck down such bans as unconstitutional and effectively legalized gay marriage across the USA.
