LOS ANGELES, CA — History has been made as the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams have confirmed that they are doing their part in support of LGBTQ rights by sponsoring Venice Beach Gay Pride, an event celebrating diversity and the LGBTQ community that kicks off Friday June 2-3.

What is fascinating is that both the Chargers and the Rams are each sponsoring one of the letters in the “Venice” digital billboard signs which will be illuminated as part of the block party.

Molly Higgins, Rams vice president of community affairs and engagement released a statement on the iconic NFL team’s decision to get involved in this year’s Venice Beach Gay Pride event.

“We thought of it as an opportunity to offer support of diversity, something that publicly displays our internal values and encourages acceptance and equality across the board,” said Higgins.

Which followed a statement released by Chargers vice president of external affairs for corporate, community and governmental relations Kimberley Layton who stated..”Equality, diversity and inclusion are as fundamental to our organization as bump-and-run coverage, the three-step drop and gap technique.” said Layton.

This year marks The Rams second season since returning to Los Angeles after moving from St. Louis. The Chargers are making history by playing their first season in Los Angeles since their move from San Diego where they had been based for 56 years since their debut in 1960.
