ATLANTA, GA — (04-21-20) — Governor Brian Kemp announced Georgia will be gradually reopening businesses starting April 24th, one of several states with Republican governors who are said to be working together on the phased reopening of their economies.
The governor who was the last to issue a state-at-home order is the first set to reopen his state’s economy despite the rising deaths due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
While several democratic and republican governors pushed back on the Trump administration’s claims that states are conducting a “sufficient” level of coronavirus testing, other governors were eager to reopen businesses in their states regardless of testing levels including Governor Kemp.
Kemp made decision following protests for Georgia citizens demanding the economy be allowed to open up.
hair salons, barbershops, fitness centers are set to open Friday and restaurants next week. Bars and nightclubs will remain closed.
