AUSTIN, TX — (03-20-24) — Texas right wing Attorney General Ken Paxton, has sued the parent companies of adult websites xHamster and Chaturbate, claiming that the sites are not complying with the state’s draconian controversial age verification law, HB 1181.

The state of Texas is asking the court to require xHamster to pay a civil penalty of up to $1.67 million plus $10,000 per day since the lawsuit’s filing, and Chaturbate to pay $1.78 million along with $10,000 per day since the filing

Paxton filed the lawsuits in Travis County against Hammy Media and Multi Media for violations of Texas House Bill (HB) 1181, the controversial age verification law that is currently being litigated between the adult content stakeholders and Paxton’s office in a federal district court.

Attorney Corey D. Silverstein who is the driving force behind MyAdultAttorney.com and winner of the XBIZ 2024 ‘Community Figure of the Year’ Award, is urging adult industry stakeholders to “come together as one industry to stop this madness.”

“These laws are passed by religious zealots who have no respect for the first amendment, which is ironic since these same zealots rely so heavily on the first amendment for their own causes,” Silverstein told XBIZ Legal. “This law is headed to the doorsteps of the Supreme Court, and I hope that the court will have to wisdom to put an end to this craziness and affirm our bedrock firstst amendment principles and existing case law. It’s especially frustrating that the State of Texas would choose to pursue Chaturbate and xHamster when the law they are attempting to enforce is already being challenged. If I were a taxpayer in the State of Texas I would not be in a pleasant mood today.”

We will bring you more developments as they become available.
