LAS VEGAS — (02-01-22) — Academy Award-Winner and staunch LGBTQ activist Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from The View for two weeks after her controversially remarks on the Holocaust drew huge backlash.

The drama started during a segment on Monday’s show. The show’s panelists discussed a Tennessee school board’s removal of the Holocaust novel Maus from its eighth-grade curriculum.

Panelist Sunny Hostin accused members of the board of “banning discussions about race.”

Goldberg Suspended by ABC Over Holocaust Remarks

Goldberg responded by saying…“If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race.” said Goldberg. No, it’s not about race,” Goldberg added after some back and forth. “It’s not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.”

Goldberg doubled down after some pushback from her fellow cohosts but that was just the beginning of the firestorm she had created.

She even went on the Jimmy Fallon Late Night Talk Show to apologize for comments. “These are two White Groups of people,” said Goldberg. “Let’s talk about it for what it is, it’s how people treat each other. That’s the problem. It doesn’t matter if you are Black or White, because Black, White, Jews, Italians, everybody eats each other.” said Golberg.

However that wasn’t enough damage control for the ABC network as they announced via twitter that Goldberg was suspeneded effective immediately for two weeks.

As a Jewish American, I don’t believe she was trying to dismiss the holocaust. She was simply making a point that was taken the wrong way.

Hopefully everyone will calm down and take a chill pill.
