Opening Weekend Pulls In $233 Million Worldwide

LAS VEGAS, NV –  The DC Entertainment theatrical blockbuster film “Wonder Woman” [2017], smashed all the records in the book this weekend to take the reign as the the biggest domestic opening for a female director in the history of film.

Starring Israeli Actress Gal Gadot whom we all know from her roles in the Fast & Furious franchise and Chris Pine from the Star Trek Franchise,  took audiences in over 4,000 theaters by storm this weekend in the film directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Allan Heinberg while the story was created by Zack Snyder and produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros.

According to MOJO Box Office, “Wonder Woman” [2017] grossed an estimated $100.5 million domestically and $122.5 Million dollars Internationally by Sunday.  Not to mention, Thursday night’s pre-show pulled in a total of $11 million bringing a total of $233 Million dollars worldwide on a $149 Million dollar budget.

You will remember that Lana and Lilly Wachowski held the record for opening weekends with “The Matrix Reloaded” [2003] film which its opening weekend of May 15 of that year with a gross receipts record of 91,774,413.

In fact The Hollywood Reporter predicted that Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins would debut at $95 million in the USA and probably would move in the neighborhood of $100 million internationally.  How off they were on this one!
