WASHINGTON, D.C — (10-30-18) — Attorney General Jeff Sessions found himself heckled by 2 pastors at an event to promote religious freedom on Monday. The attorney general was heckled by Pastor Will Green and Pastor Darrell Hamilton for his approach to constantly attacking Transgenders and for exploiting the migrant crisis.
While the attorney general spoke about religious freedom at the Boston Lawyers chapter of the conservative Federalist Society, two pastor leaders interrupted his speech.
The first religious leader was United Methodist Pastor Will Green of the Ballard Vale United Church in Andover. Pastor Will Green began by quoting lines attributed to Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew:
“I was hungry and you did not feed me. I was a stranger and you did not welcome me. I was naked and you did not clothe me.” said Pastor Green. The Gospel of Matthew verses are frequently read as Jesus’s exhortation to care for the poor, sick, and marginalized.
Green then said to Jeff Sessions…“Brother Jeff, as a fellow United Methodist, I call upon you to repent, to care for those in need, to remember that when you do not care for others you are wounding the body of Christ.” said Green.
The second pastor identified as Pastor Darrell Hamilton of the First Baptist Church in Boston, rose to give a second scolding of the right wing conservative attorney general. But Pastor Hamilton was drowned out by boos and cries of “go home” from others in attendance. As Pastor Darrell Hamilton was beig escorted out, Hamilton accused the attendees shouting “go home” of being “hypocrites” for advocating for religious liberty politically. He made it a point to say that you’re here saying religious freedom while escorting him out of the venue and denying Pastor Hamilton the opportunity to express his religious faith by quoting the gospel at the event.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions in his typical dismissive tone, laughed off the interruption saying…“I don’t believe there’s anything in the Scripture … [or my] theology that says a secular nation state cannot have lawful laws to control immigration … not immoral, not indecent, and not unkind to state what your laws are and then set about to enforce them.” said Sessions.
