WASHINGTON D.C. — (03-20-20) — Early Friday evening the office of Vice President Mike Pence released a statement saying that a member of his staff has tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus.

More than a dozen lawmakers have entered voluntary self-quarantine amid the COVID-19 outbreak, and more are expected — testing Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s proclamation last week that Congress will be “the last to leave.”

The statement from Vice President Mike Pence’s Press Secretary Katie Miller says that on Friday they were “notified that a member of the Office of the Vice President tested positive for the Coronavirus.”

They also stress that “further contact tracing is being conducted in accordance with CDC guidelines.”

“Neither President Trump nor Vice President Pence had close contact with the individual,” the statement read.

Vice President Pence is at the White House’s coronavirus task force and integral to the daily briefings on the government response.
