U.S. Senate advances another anti-LGBT Court Pick by Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C ― (06-19-19) ― The U.S. Senate voted Tuesday to advance the confirmation of a well known anti-LGBT activist judge named Matthew Kacsmaryk.

Matthew Kacsmaryk is up for a lifetime federal judge position and if confirmed, is sure to be an anti-LGBT activist on the bench.

Despite strong protests from Democrat Senators and one Republican over his record of anti-LGBTQ rights and abortion rights, the Senate voted 52-44 on a procedural step to advance Kacsmaryk’s nomination to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Naturally every Democrat Senator voted no while every Republican but one, Susan Collins (R) of Maine, voted yes.

However one interesting thing to take note of is that Democratic Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Kamala Harris (Calif.), Mazie Hirono (Hawaii) and Ron Wyden (Ore.) did not vote.

Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk joins the long list of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees who have a solid reputation for opposing LGBTQ rights.

Being a anti-LGBTQ rights activist is just one of the requirements to be considered by Donald Trump for being considered for a life-time judgeship appointment.

BACKGROUND ON JUDGE MATTHEW KACSMARYK

Matthew Kacsmaryk has fought publicly against protections for the LGBTQ community in areas of employment, healthcare and housing.

Back In 2015, when Utah passed their historic nondiscrimination protections act, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk publicly called the law ”a bad idea” because it had the nerve to suggest that discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, should be taken as seriously as other forms of discrimination.

Kacsmaryk even signed on to a 2016 letter that called being transgender “a delusion.”

Judge Kacsmaryk will know if he will serve in a life time appointment as a Federal judge today, Wednesday June 19.
