Lionsgate originally set A Madea Family Funeral for theatrical release on August 3, 2018. But the top brass decided to move the release date to March 1, 2019.

According to Tyler Perry, A Madea Family Funderal will be the last movie in the Madea series. Tyler Perry said that this will be the end of the Madea character.
