Pope to Gay Man ‘God Made You Like This” has sent shock waves through the Vatican. Following the guilty verdict of Father Fernando Karadima for sexually abusing young gay victim, the gay man said that he had received a heart felt and moving message of support from Pope Francis which immediately went viral the minute the press got wind of the message.

Identified as Juan Carlos Cruz, he met with Pope Francis last week so that he could discuss the abuse he suffered at the hands of Father Fernando Karadima.  The Chilean Catholic priest was found guilty of sexually abusing minors by the Vatican  back in 2011.  Cruz was one of many victims of Father Karadima.  The headline of ‘Pope to Gay Man ‘God Made You Like This’ has gone viral both throughout the EU, Middle East and South America.

Cruz opened up about his abuse in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País. Cruz shared his memories of his abuse with Pope Francis and how his sexual orientation came up during the meeting.  The main reason being that several conservative media outlets attempted to use his sexual orientation of being gay against him in order to support the convicted priest.

“He told me, ‘Juan Carlos, that you are gay does not matter.  God made you like this and loves you like this and I don’t care.” said Juan Carlos to El Pais. “The pope loves you like this. You have to be happy with who you are,’” said Cruz.
