TORONTO, CANADA — (12-29-19) — Toronto police have arrested a man in the Trans activist Julie Berman’s murder. The well known Toronto trans activist was found brutally murdered on Sunday December 22nd.

Det. Rob Choe of the Toronto police homicide squad said Berman, 51, died of “blunt-impact trauma” to her head that investigators believe was caused by a weapon.  Chloe declined to provide further details.

Police have identified the alleged murder suspect as 29-year-old Colin Harnack. Harneck has been charged with second-degree murder.

For more than thirty years Julie Berman has been involved with the trans rights group The 519. Berman is known for her heart breaking speech she gave at the 2017’s Trans Day of Remembrance. She spoke of the injustice of transphobia and the murder of one of her trans friends. Ironic that she would be murdered 2 years later by a psychopathic monster.

City News Coverage on the tragic death of Trans Activist Julie Berman

Julie Berman becomes the third trans murder victim over the past two years. The epidemic of anti-trans violence in the U.S. is out of control and one has to wonder when the Department of Justice, FBI and special victims units nationwide will start taking these tragedies seriously.

Over twenty Black trans women have been murdered in 2019 and yet, not one can be remembered being covered on cable news or the big three networks.
