SEATTLE, WA — (11-03-19) — Politicians and news media outlets are ignoring the disturbing discovery by Dr. Alex Greninger of a new strain of antibiotic-resistant bacteria found in Gay Men.

Dr. Greninger and his research team based at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance at South Lake Union, are concerned about a new strain of antibiotic-resistant bacteria that has come up in lab tests of Gay men in Seattle and Montreal.

Gay Men – New Strain of Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria

The new strain of Campylobacter coli, an infection that seems to cause in Gay men, diarrhea and abdominal pains. According to statistics, this infection normally clears up on its own with plenty of fluids.

This of course doesn’t occur in severe cases and are at times, required to get treatment with antibiotics.

However times have changed as Dr. Alex Greninger is reporting that for the first time, a new cluster of Campylobacter coli appears to be resistant to antibiotics on a sub-DNA level.

New Strains of Campylobacter coli discovered Exclusively in Gay men Suggests the disease is sexually transmitted

Dr. Alex Greninger, lead researcher into the Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria, published the finings his team discovered in the Oxford Academic earlier this week titled, “International Spread of Multidrug-Resistant Campylobacter coli in Men who have Sex with Men in Washington State and Quebec, 2015-2018“.

The new study published on October 29, 2019, links the new strains of Campylobacter coli to one another on a genetic scale. In fact the scientists have made a point to say that the discovery of the bacteria exclusively found in gay men, suggests the disease is sexually transmitted.

“Enteric infections can be sexually-transmitted infections,” said Greninger. “The international spread of related isolates among MSM populations has been shown before for Shigella [another bacterial infection, similar to E. coli], so it makes sense to see it in Campylobacter, as well.” said Greninger.

The entire research team led by Dr. Alex Greninger, cautions that gay men are at a higher risk for contracting multi drug-resistant intestinal pathogens both because. Their reasoning for saying this is because as a group, Gay men routinely practice anal sex which exposes them to more intestinal bacteria.

According to Dr. Greninger, Gay men are also at risk because many of them have taken or are taking antibiotics to cure other sexually-transmitted infections.

This reporter hopes that the dear doctor is insinuating that the majority of Gay men are infected with or have been infected with a sexually transmitted disease in their life times. Because it they were, they should really take a look at the heterosexual community for sexually transmitted diseases.
