WASHINGTON, D.C. — (11-20-19) — A majority of registered GOP voters sampled in a new Hill-HarrisX poll, said they support LGBT adoptions and that adoption agencies should not be permitted to discriminate against same-sex couples seeking to adopt a child.
The nationwide survey released on Tuesday by Hil-HarrisX, showed that 66 percent of Republicans say that adoption groups should not be able to turn away LGBTQ parents, compared to 75 percent of Democrats and 73 percent of independent voters.

The poll also showed that the majority of American voters shared this sentiment as well:
72 percent said adoption agencies should not be allowed to deny services to members of the LGBTQ community, while 29 percent disagreed
The survey follows a new Department of Health and Human Services adoption rule announced earlier this month. The proposal seeks to yet again, roll back another Obama-era protections act for the LGBT community.
The Trump administration’s new rule states that federally funded adoption groups can feel free to reject LGBTQ parents on the basis of their religious beliefs.
As expected, several religious groups praised the Trump administration’s new anti-LGBT rule while LGBTQ group across the country condemned the new attack on LGBTQ citizens.
“The change gives faith-based adoption groups a “blanket license to discriminate.” said Human Rights Campaign President Alphonso David.
David told Hill.TV…“What this rule will allow these agencies to do is to discriminate in a blanket fashion,” said David. “It’s essentially saying, ‘I’m not going to allow adoption-related services to any families unless they’re Christian-based families.” said David.
Facing major backlash from every angle, White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere said earlier this month that “LGBT people can still adopt and that will not change.”
As if anyone can believe anything coming out of the Trump administration these days.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online between Nov. 8 and Nov. 9. It has a margin of sampling error of 3.1 percentage points. The sampling error among partisan voters is higher.
