WASHINGTON D.C. — (12-12-19) — Lawmakers target Trump and his administration’s LGBT discrimination rule allowing business receiving Federal Funding to discriminate against LGBTQ workers due to their religious beliefs.

The Trump administration’s decision to allow religious groups to discriminate against LGBTQ individuals while receiving federal funding is a slap in the face of LGBTQ citizens.

Democratic lawmakers say that this is classic Trump “Bait and Switch”.  Promote nominating and getting confirmed a Gay conservative Judge, while at the same time expanding discrimination against the LGBTQ community in the work place.

Trump is busy promoting his newly confirmed Federal Justice to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Gay conservative Justice Patrick Bumatay .who was confirmed on 3 December.

Rep. Nydia Velazquez, D-N.Y., wrote a letter signed by more than 100 members of Congress, demanding the Trump administration reverse their anti-LGBTQ discrimination rules that would allow business to discriminate against LGBTQ Americans.

“This proposed rule Single Handedly removes comprehensive protections from discrimination applied to all grants administered by HHS, thus permitting discrimination in federally funded adoption and foster care agencies, elder abuse programs, and many other HHS-funded health and human service programs that serve millions of Americans,” said the letter written by Rep. Velazquez.

Congressional leaders saw the need to act after the Department of Health and Human Services proposed a rule change last month, that will allow federal contractors to discriminate against LGBTQ citizens and others who offend the contractors’ religious beliefs.

The actions taken by the Trump administration is yet another example of Donald Trump’s personal mission to reverse every executive order issued by former President Barack Obama. The anti-LGBTQ discrimination policy would reverse the executive order issued by President Barack Obama in 2014, where contractors could not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

The new policy impacts the Department of Health and Human Services that overseas such work as foster services and HIV treatment.

Under the Trump administration’s new guidelines, adoption agencies will be allowed to refuse to service LGBTQ youth or prospective parents.

The Trump administration has defended their policy by calling the Obama-era anti-discrimination policy discrimination upon religious liberty.
