HOLLYWOOD, CA – Kevin Spacey has created quite a scandal for himself after former child actor Anthony Rapp of Star Trek Discovery, accused Spacey of a sexual advance upon him when he was 14 years-old and Spacey was 26.

Spacey immediately responded with an apology but that wasn’t the end of it. He then went on to come out of the closet and admit that he was gay. Talk about bad timing!

Not only did he not quash the scandal, he enhanced it and outraged political groups on both sides of the spectrum. Not only that, his hit Netflix series House of Cards, has shut down production and cancelled next year’s season over this mess.

Then came the backlash from the LGBT community advocates including civil rights activist DeRay McKesson who posted on Twitter… “Kevin Spacey really tried to throw the entire LGBT community under a bus and call it solidarity in an effort to mask his personal failings,” posted Mckesson.

That was followed up by Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of the gay rights group GLAAD, who said in a statement that the Spacey scandal was really about unwanted sexual advances on Rapp not Spacey’s sexuality. “Coming out stories should not be used to deflect from allegations of sexual assault,” said Ellis.

The scandal premiered when Rapp told BuzzFeed News in an interview that he was attending a party 30 years ago at Spacey’s apartment and that an inebriated Spacey picked him up, placed him on his bed, and climbed on top of him. Rapp, who was only 14 years-old at the time, was able to get away without any physical harm.

Once Spacey got wind of the BuzzFeed story, he immediately responded on Twitter by saying he doesn’t remember the alleged encounter but if he acted the way Rapp alleges, “I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.” posted Spacey.

Rapp cited the Weinstein accusers for the reason he recounted his alleged experience with Spacey back in 1986.

“I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me,” wrote Rapp on Twitter.
