IOWA CITY — Early Sunday morning just after 1 a.m., Iowa City Police were dispatched to the Romantix adult store located at 315 Kirkwood Avenue, for an armed robbery.

According to police the suspect described as a white male, approximately 5’9”, wearing a black and yellow striped sweater and beanie, entered the store pretending to browse merchandise while casing out the store. When he made his move, he approached the cashier as if he was planning on making a purchase.

Police say that’s when pulled out a weapon and demanding cash from the register. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise from the store, he fled the scene. Luckily the employee on duty was not injured during the incident. Police searched the area with out any results.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers are now offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects. Anyone with information about this crime are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477).

Remember that all calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
