WASHINGTON , D.C — (04-07-19) — DHS Secretary Secretary Nielsen has had it with Donald Trump as she tells Trump I quit. Her decision followed a heated meeting between herself and President Trump in the White House on Sunday.
According to a White House source, the meeting did not go well between Nielsen and Trump.
In true Trump form, he announced DHS Secretary Kirstjen’s resignation just after a 5 p.m. EST, meeting at the White House. Trump announced that Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will serve as acting DHS secretary.
….I am pleased to announce that Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for @DHSgov. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!
