TROY, NY — In what police are describing as a savage murder, a lesbian couple and their two children were killed this week in their basement apartment in Troy, N.Y.

The apartment building’s property manager discovered the horrific crime scene Tuesday in the basement apartment after receiving a request to do a wellness check on the apartment. The victims were found tied up.

Troy police told media outlets that the victims were two women, aged 36 and 22, the children, one son 11 years-old and a daughter of 5 years-old, were the older woman’s kids.

“After being in this business for nearly 42 years, I can say I have not seen savagery like this,” said Police Chief John Tedesco in a news conference Wednesday afternoon. “Only a person of savagery would do something like this.” He did not specify how they were killed, and said their names were being withheld until relatives were notified.” said Chief Tedesco.

Chief Tedesco further added that he does not believe this horrific crime was random. “We do not believe it was a random act. We do not believe there is any imminent danger to the community. There is no one person of interest at this point,” said Chief Tedesco.

Troy police are asking for anyone with information on this case to call 1-518-270-4421 or visit the new Capital Region Crimestoppers.
