BROOKLYN, NY — According to police, a wealthy Brooklyn financier was found dead and naked in his “Tony Dumbo Pad” after an alleged gay bondage hookup date went bad.

The deceased, Neil Rodney Smith, 57, CEO of the Manhattan-based investment firm Infraccess, was allegedly found lying on his back in his bed with a wet towel stuffed in his mouth and a pillow over his face inside his high rise apartment located at 1 Main St. around 1:45 p.m. Monday, said police.

According to homicide investigators on scene “Smith went online and hooked up with some guy and, whatever they were doing,” he died, a police spokesperson said. “Not long before his death, a roommate heard a guy in there with him. He heard them having sex,” said the police spokesperson.

According to the roommate, he heard sounds from the room stopped, the roommate later found Smith dead. According to police, there were no signs of trauma on the body however police are investigating whether there may have been foul play.

Homicide investigators are reviewing the surveillance camera footage of a male visitor from outside the residence.

“There is video surveillance of a guy and a girl outside the apartment. The girl stays out, and the guy goes in,” said investigators.

According to homicide detectives, Mr. Smith had been chatting online with the mystery man before he was found dead. “There were text messages exchanged and Facebook stuff where he’s hooking up with this guy,” said the homicide department’s spokesperson.

Investigators are also looking into whether this date was a simple hookup or if the visitor was a professional escort.
