WASHINGTON, D.C — (10-17-19) — New Gallup Poll sends shock waves through the GOP and the White House as 52% now support removal of Trump from office.

Published on Wednesday Oct. 16, Gallup reports that public opinion on whether Donald Trump should be impeached is still a toss up however, Americans for the first time, are now lean more in favor of impeachment and removal from office.

This is a huge jump compared to where Trump stood in June.

As of Oct. 16, 2019, 52% of Americans say president Trump should be impeached and removed from office. That’s not all, 46% told Gallup researchers that Trump should not be impeached. According to Gallup, this is opposite of what they found in June.

In a major shocker to political pundits on both sides of the political spectrum as Congress saw an increase in approval over the past month by coming in with a 15-percentage-point jump among Democrats (from 19% to 34%) as well as a smaller increase among independents (from 19% to 25%). Republicans’ rating of Congress is stable, at 17%, according to Gallup.

According to Gallup’s poll taken between Oct. 1-13, saw Trump’s approval rating remains steady at 39%, compared with 40% in the late September update.

Political insiders were quick to say that the latest Gallup Poll compounded with the backlash over the president pulling troops out of Syria, the impeachment depositions taking place behind closed doors and China denying that they have made any purchases to our farmers as stated by Trump on several occasions this week.

The Gallup Report also found that since their poll taken back in June, Democrats’ and independents’ support for impeachment has gone up, while Republicans’ support has stayed the same.

The change among independents is enough that a majority of that group (55%) now favors Trump being impeached and removed from office.

“Support for impeachment was already high among Democrats, at 81%, but now approaches 90%. Just 6% of Republicans are in favor of Trump being impeached,” according to Gallup.
