CHATSWORTH, CA — (03-30-19) — HBO unveil the CHERNOBYL official trailer starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson. The upcoming historical drama television miniseries was created by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck.
The miniseries drama is a co-production between American cable network HBO and British television network Sky. CHERNOBYL is based on the real life event that took place in April 1986, when an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the USSR became one of the world’s worst man-made catastrophes in history.

Synopsis:

On July 26, 2017, HBO announced it had given a series order for CHERNOBYL. This announcement also marks their first co-production with Sky Television. The five-episode miniseries of CHERNOBYL was written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck. Mazin also serves as executive producer alongside Carolyn Strauss and Jane Featherstone. Chris Fry and Renck are acting as co-executive producers.
