Captive State (2019) - John Goodman, Ashton Sanders

Captive State, an upcoming American Sci-Fi thriller film starring John Goodman, Ashton Sanders and Vera Farmiga. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and co-written by Wyatt and Erica Beeney.

In the fall of 2016 it was announced that Rupert Wyatt would direct a science fiction film titled Captive State. The film is based on the screenplay written by Wyatt and his wife Erica Beeney. Several months later it was reported that Participant Media had won the bidding war for the rights to Captive State.

Participant Media agreed that they would produce ‘Captive State’ alongside Amblin Partners. Focus Features was selected as the primary distributing arm for the film domestically. Entertainment One distribution will handle International markets including Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia.

Principal photography took place on February 15, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. Production took place at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios. A large amount of filming also took place in the Lower West Side neighborhood of Pilsen.
