PROVIDENCE, RI — (01-20-20) — The Pete Buttigieg presidential campaign has garnered backlash after it ditches a popular Gay bar to host their fundraising event.

The presidential campaign fundraiser was moved at the last minute because The Dark Lady gay bar located at 19 Snow St in the Rhode Island Capital, had a stripper pole! According to sources close to the situation, this was a look the wannabe acting Gay conservative Pete Buttigieg did not want to portray to donors.

The fundraiser which was headlined by Chasten, Pete Buttigieg’s husband, was moved to the Hotel Providence.

Needless to say The Dark Lady’s management didn’t take kindly to the last minute change by the Buttigieg presidential campaign.

“Pete Buttigieg’s husband just canceled his appearance for tonight’s fundraiser at the Dark Lady because the “gay bar has a dancer pole!,” wrote a representative of the Dark Lady on its Facebook page. “Sorry this event is no longer happening this evening. We guess this is what the gay candidate does to the gay community! #downonthepoles #dancersforanyoneelse”

Following the uproar over the last minute change, the campaign wrote an email to the Providence Journal defending their decision:

“Our commitment to LGBTQ+ spaces is strong and we always strive to hold events in inclusive spaces,” Buttigieg Deputy Press Secretary Tess Whittlesey wrote in an email to the Journal. “Pete and Chasten know first-hand how important it is for members of the LGBTQ+ community to have a safe space to gather and our campaign would never do anything to intentionally disrespect such a space.”
