HOLLYWOOD, CA — (09-24-18) — Bumblebee is the upcoming American science fiction action film based on Transformers character of the same name. This marks the sixth installment of the live-action Transformers film franchise series and a prequel to 2007’s Transformers.

The Bumblebee film is directed by Travis Knight and written by Christina Hodson. The science fiction thriller stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., John Ortiz, Jason Drucker, and Pamela Adlon.

Paramount Pictures states that the Bumblebee production is also the first live-action Transformers film where Michael Bay is not the director but does serve as producer.

Principal photography on the Bumblebee film began on July 31, 2017, in Los Angeles and San Francisco, California. According to Paramount Pictures, Bumblebee (2018) is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 21, 2018 In 3D.

Synopsis:
“On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.”
