Black Panther (2018) starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o, opens in theaters with over $361 Million in ticket sales and of that, $192 Million in domestic ticket revenue.
The All-Black cast blockbuster takes the No.1 spot over the President’s Day Three-Day Weekend debuting in 4,020 theaters averaging $47,767 per theater over the first 3 days in release.
Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the blockbuster film marks the eighteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Director Ryan Coogler took the screenplay written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole to another level with Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa / Black Panther, alongside Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
“After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.”
