LAS VEGAS, NV — (10-24-18) — Bird Box is an upcoming American post-apocalyptic horror film starring Sandra Bullock and directed by Susanne Bier. The horror film was written by Eric Heisserer, based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Josh Malerman.
The film stars Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes, Jacki Weaver, Rosa Salazar, Danielle Macdonald, Lil Rel Howery, Tom Hollander, Machine Gun Kelly, BD Wong and John Malkovich.
Synopsis:
“In the wake of an unknown global terror, a mother must find the strength to flee with her children down a treacherous river in search of safety. Due to unseen deadly forces, the perilous journey must be made blindly. Directed by Academy Award winner Susanne Bier, Bird Box is a thriller starring Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock, John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson, and Trevante Rhodes. Written by Netflix”
Film rights to Bird Box were optioned by Universal Studios in 2013. This took place prior to the book release version of Bird Box. Scott Stuber and Chris Morgan were set to produce the film, with Mama director Andy Muschietti attached as director.
The Bird Box horror film will have its world premiere at AFI Fest on November 12, 2018. Netflix has scheduled release for Bird Box on the Netflix network for December 21, 2018.
