NEW YORK, NY — (12-26-22) — New York City Gay Council Member Erik Bottcher’ apartment was broken into and vandalized by two women after he confronted a group of protesters at a Drag Queen Story Hour.

New York City police have arrested two suspects for trespassing at the home of the openly gay NYC councilmember.

Bottcher, who represents several Manhattan neighborhoods, posted a video to Twitter this past Saturday showing a protest outside a Drag Queen Story Hour at a library in Chelsea.

“I wanna show you the face of hate, right here in Chelsea,” Bottcher said, panning over to show people holding signs that said “STOP THE NONSENSE / THERE ARE ONLY 2 GENDERS” and “STOP GROOMING KIDS FOR SEX.” This particular event was specifically for children with autism and other disabilities.

Bottcher’s office was also targeted, with protesters allegedly affiliated with the group “Gays Against Groomers”, showing up at the door and verbally harassing his staff, said Bottcher. They also allegedly vandalized the hallway scrawling “BITCHER” on the walls, according to photos posted by Bottcher.

Protesters also managed to gain entry into Erik Bottcher’s apartment building where they posted the following messages in chalk on the sidewalk, “Erik Bottcher is a pedo child groomer,” “Ok Groomer,” and “We Want Erik.”

According to ABC 7 New York, two women, 44-year-old Erica Sanchez and 27-year-old Anna Morgan, were arrested for criminal trespassing.
