MILWAUKEE — (09-23-22) — Milwaukee’s LGBT community has mixed feelings on the upcoming Netflix original series ‘DAHMER Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022).  Many are saying that it is bringing up dark memories of the crimes committed by the notorious Milwaukee serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer.

According to members of Milwaukee’s LGBT community, the dark drama brings back horrible memories. In 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer confessed to 17 murders that included several gay men.

Drag Queen performer B.J. Daniels told ABC News local affiliate WISN…”I feel like it fetishizes this whole horrible moment in Milwaukee history. it shouldn’t be looked at it that way, it just feels completely wrong,” said Daniels.

Daniels was a performer of the Club 219 in the Walker’s Point neighborhood back in the 1990s, where Dahmer targeted many of his victims. Many of those victims were young, gay men. Daniels told WISN about his haunting memory from Pride Fest in 1991.

“A woman came up to me and we were in drag, so she knew we were drag queens, and she said ‘have you seen my son?’ and she held up a little snapshot. Come to find out this young man she showed me a photo of was one of the victims,” said Daniels. Daniels told WISN that he will never watch the show.

“I know a lot of my friends, and a lot of people who lived through this period, will not be watching it. They will not be putting money into somebody’s pocket that is literally disturbing the graves of victims,” sid Daniels.
