LAS VEGAS — (07-27-22) — Sylvester Stallone takes the role of a superhero in SAMARITAN (2022), an Amazon Prime Video Original film that tells the story of a superhero who vanished 25 years ago returns. The upcoming American superhero film directed by Julius Avery and written by Bragi F. Schut, also stars Javon Walton, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco and Moises Arias.

Described as a dark, new take on superhero movies, the story was previously adapted into the Mythos Comics graphic novels by Schut, Marc Olivent, and Renzo Podesta. It is a co-production of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions.

Synopsis:
“Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.” — MGM
