LAS VEGAS — (07-25-22) — Hypocrite Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA), says he was ‘Thrilled to Attend’ Gay Son’s wedding after voting against the Respect for Marriage act bill passed in the House of Representatives last week.
Following his vote against a bill aimed to ensure same-sex marriage is codified at the federal level, Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA) attended his gay son’s wedding last Friday.
Thompson’s son confirmed to media outlets that his father was in attendance at the wedding, as did Thompson’s press secretary.
“Congressman and Mrs. Thompson were thrilled to attend and celebrate their son’s marriage on Friday night as he began this new chapter in his life,” said Thompson press secretary Maddison Stone via email. She said Thompson and his wife are happy to have a new son-in-law.
The Respect for Marriage act bill passed 267-157, with 47 Republicans voting in favor of it. Thompson was among those who voted no.
Stone, in another email to Centre Daily News in State College, Pennsylvania, categorized the Respect for Marriage act as a political “stunt.”
“This bill was nothing more than an election-year messaging stunt for Democrats in Congress who have failed to address historic inflation and out of control prices at gas pumps and grocery stores,” Stone told media outlets.
Senate Democrats are seeking 10 Republican votes to get the 60 need to pass the bill and send it to President Joe Biden’s desk for signature.
