WASHINGTON, D.C. — (06-02-22) — The White House is celebrating Pride Month by releasing its Official Pride Month Proclamation, amid a wave of anti-LGBTQ legislation instituted by Republicans.

In fact the Human Rights Campaign says there have been more than 300 anti-LGBTQ bills proposed by states controlled by Republicans and at least 28 states so far have passed this year.

Eight states have signed anti-LGBT bills into law in 2022 and President Biden the all especially at the rapid speed in which these anti-LGBTQ laws were put into law at a pace never witnessed before in politics.

“These bills are targeting kids in classrooms and families in their homes, which is why this Pride Month we will be focused on protecting, uplifting, and supporting LGBTQI+ children and families,” said a White House spokesperson about Biden’s Pride Month plans.

The White House added that it is “laser-focused” on fighting back against the onslaught of anti-LGBTQ legislation and will continue its support for the LGBTQ community and their families.

To combat the GOP’s war on LGBTQ Americans, the Biden administration is calling on Congress to pass the Equality Act, the legislation that would expand federal civil rights law to prohibit LGBTQ and gender identity discrimination in public accommodations.

The Biden administration has been behind several steps for LGBTQ Americans including its first use of the gender-neutral gender marker on passports by the U.S. State Department. It also reversed the Trump era rule that Title IX does not protect LGBTQ students.
