AUSTIN, TX — (04-21-22) — JRL CHARTS LGBT Politics News has learned that an alarming number of child welfare workers in Texas are quitting over Gov Abbott’s anti-Transgender directive, that requires welfare workers to investigate child abuse claims against parents suspected of providing gender-affirming care to their transgender children.

One of the Texas welfare workers how has put in his two-week notice is Morgan Davis, a transgender man, who works at the Child Protective Services office in Travis County. He said he “couldn’t morally continue” his job after investigating the family of a trans teen.

Abbott and Paxton Face Texas Welfare Workers Resigning Over Anti-Trans Directive

Davis is reportedly not alone. According to our investigation, more than a half dozen Child Protective Services employees in the state told The Texas Tribune that they have either resigned or were looking for new jobs as a result of Abbott’s anti-Transgender directive.

Last year, the GOP run Texas Legislature failed to pass one of their anti-LGBTQ bills that would’ve changed the state’s definition of child abuse to include providing gender-affirming medical care, such as puberty blockers and hormones, to minors.

As a result, Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) issued a legal opinion in February that said providing gender-affirming medical care to minors, including puberty blockers and hormones, constitutes child abuse under state law.

Shortly after that, Gov Abbott issued a directive to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the state agency that investigates child abuse reports.

One of the first anti-Trans cases under Abbott’s anti-Transgender order landed on Morgan Davis’ desk. That’s when he said he could have recused himself, but he wanted the family being investigated to see a friendly face.

“In my case, it was an exemplary family. Exemplary. The kind of family you wish and pray that every case we had would have,” said Davis.

Davis didn’t find any abuse or neglect, but said the agency didn’t drop the case.

The Republican party is continuing to use the LGBTQ community as a culture war in order to win seats nationally and state wide in November. They truly feel that the majority of Americans prefer living in the dark ages of the 20th Century.
