UNITED KINGDOM — (04-01-22) — Prime minister Boris Johnson is backtracking after fierce backlash after word leaked out that conservative ministers were planning to abandon plans to ban LGBT conversion therapy.

The controversial Conversion therapy practices that claims to change or suppress a person’s sexuality or gender identity is something that Boris Johnson and his predecessor Theresa May had promised to make illegal.

However, earlier on Thursday a government spokesperson confirmed to JRL CHARTS LGBT World News that they were looking instead at ways of preventing the debunked practice through existing law and “other non-legislative measures”.

It followed the leak of a Downing Street briefing paper seen by ITV News which said “the PM has agreed we should not move forward with legislation” to outlaw the practice.”

But when journalist broke the story, a senior government source said that the legislation would be included in the Queen’s speech in May.

ITV News UK editor Paul Brand tweeted that the prime minister had “changed his mind” after receiving massive backlash to his administration’s earlier announcement.
