ELIZABETH CITY, NC — (02-14-22) — A federal jury has finally convicted a Johnston County man of robbing Wilson’s Sweet Dreams Adult Novelty Store back in 2018. U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle accepted the jury’s verdict in last week’s trial, which started Monday at the federal courthouse in Elizabeth City.

Prosecutors say two other convicted defendants, Teresa Michelle McDougald and Frenchie Willie Hooks Jr., helped James Winfred “Silky” Hall, 48, rob the Sweet Dreams Couples Boutique located at 4550 US-301, Wilson, NC on Jan. 15, 2018.

“Hooks, wearing a brown jacket, a mask and latex gloves, went inside the store. He pulled out the gun provided by Hall, pointed it at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register,” Don Connelly, spokesman for U.S. Attorney Michael Easley, said in a press release following the conviction.

“McDougald drove Hall and Hooks to and from the store and the three defendants divided the money,” said Connelly.

Hall faces a mandatory 14-year imprisonment term with the possibility of life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is scheduled for the May 9, 2022.
