NEW YORK, NY — (06-30-21) — A grand jury in Manhattan has indicted the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg on multiple charges, according to sources familiar with the case. The criminal charges are expected to be unsealed on Thursday during a press conference.

The indictments are part of a long-running investigation into the Trump Organization and Trump family members by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Allen Weisselberg is expected to turn himself in on Thursday at the district attorney’s office. Prosecutors are hoping that Weisselberg will cooperate by giving testimony against former president Donald Trump in exchange for leniency. Trump has not been charged nor expected to be charged at this time.

Vance’s office initiated an investigation into Donald Trump in 2018, after Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, admitted that during the 2016 presidential campaign, he paid off two women who had affairs with Trump in exchange for their silence.

Cohen pleaded guilty in federal court to breaking campaign finance laws after prosecutors argued that the payments were intended to keep the women silence during the 2016 election, therefore constituting illegal campaign contributions that exceeded federal limits. Michael Cohen has stated under oath that Donald Trump authorized the illegal payments.

This is a developing story.
