NEW YORK, NY — (02-02-21) — In an announcement to Amazon employees on Tuesday, Jeff Bezos said he’s steppin down as CEO of Amazon and will be transitioning to Executive Chair of the Amazon Board later on this year.
“As Exec Chair I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, and my other passions I have,” sai Bezos to Amazon employees. “I’ve never had more energy, and this isn’t about retiring. I’m super passionate about the impact I think these organizations can have,” said Bezos.
CEO of Amazon Web Services Andy Jassy will take over as CEO of Amazon when Bezos officially steps down.
