Massive Explosion Rocks Beirut [Warning Graphic Video]

BEIRUT, LEBANON — (08-04-20) — A massive explosion that resembled an atomic weapon detonation, rocked the capital city of Beirut in Lebanon on Monday, causing massive damage in surrounding neighborhoods and wounding hundreds of people.

Lebanon’s state news agency NNA and two security sources said the blast had occurred in the port area where there are warehouses housing explosives. It was not immediately clear what caused the blast or what kind of explosives were in the warehouses.

Piles of debris were seen strewn about in front of damaged buildings as thick smoke rose overhead.

Lebanon’s Health Minister Hamad Hasan said the explosion had caused a “very high number of injuries” and extensive damage.
