LAS VEGAS — (11-19-19) — Conservatives are outraged over fast food retail giant Chick-Fil-A, banning donations to anti-LGBTQ groups for the first time. Prominent conservatives such as former Governor Mike Huckabee, took to twitter to voice his disappointment in the fast food chain’s attack on Christian groups.
The Official Chick-Fil-A Press Release that announced its charitable giving strategy for 2019 would not include anti-LGBTQ groups they had supported in the past, conservatives went to social media to condemn the move by the fast food chain that generated over $10.5 Billion in revenue for 2019.
On Monday, the company — which has a lengthy history of supporting organizations opposed to equality for LGBTQ people, and whose executives have explicitly opposed rights for the community, announced that “Chick-fil-A Foundation will deepen its giving to a smaller number of organizations working exclusively in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger.”
Chick-Fil-A Drops the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes from Donors List
What surprised many in the media was the fact that groups like the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian athletes were not on their list. That really set off former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee who has defended the Chick-Fil-A fast food chain for their anti-LGBTQ support for years.
However when Mike Huckabee took to twitter to garner support for the condemnation of Chick-Fil-A ceasing their support for anti-LGBT groups, he was met with backlash instantaneously.
Huckabee then continued to demonstrate what kind of whine pairs best with chicken by writing “In Aug 2012, I coordinated a national @ChickfilA Appreciation Day after they were being bullied by militant hate groups. Millions showed up. Today, @ChickfilA betrayed loyal customers for $$. I regret believing they would stay true to convictions of founder Truett Cathey. Sad.”
The sad message of @ChickfilA is quite clear- they surrendered to anti- Christian hate groups. Tragic. Chick-fil-A To Stop Donating To Christian Charities Branded ‘Anti-LGBT’ https://t.co/o93PfaaS04

@GovMikeHuckabee – It probably won’t work twice. The first time, people believed you when you said the protest was about the #FirstAmendment. I believe they now see through your shallow attempts to stay relevant in the click world. #Sad

Fortunately, there are many worthy charities that they are giving to instead! Like hundreds of local food banks, which feed the hungry. And Covenant House to provide for the homeless. Following Jesus through their actions—this is good news!
