Academy Award-nominated Eddie Murphy portrays real-life legend Rudy Ray Moore, a comedy and rap pioneer who proved naysayers wrong when his hilarious, obscene, kung-fu fighting alter ego, Dolemite, became a 1970s Blaxploitation phenomenon.

Dolemite Is My Name is an upcoming American biographical comedy film that Netflix has secured the rights on. Director Craig Brewer put together this masterpiece from a screenplay by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.

The comedy film also stars Craig Robinson, Keegan-Michael Key, Titus Burgess, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Mike Epps and Ron Cephas Jones.

Synopsis:
“When Hollywood shuts him out, multi-talented Rudy Ray Moore strikes out on his own to make the 1975 Blaxploitation film “Dolemite.” Eddie Murphy stars.”

Netflix has scheduled “Dolemite Is My Name” to premier on September 11, 2019.
