Lil Nas X is riding high on his horse right into the history books with “Old Town Road,” breaking the record for the longest-running streak at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The genre-defying summer smash hit song and music video which has generated over 252.5 million views as of August 5, 2019, has dominated the BillBoard Hot 100 chart for its 17 consecutive week, surpassing previous record-holders “Despacito” by Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi, and Justin Bieber. Not to mention Boyz II Men’s classic 1995 hit “One Sweet Day”, and Mariah Carey, both topped out at 16 weeks.

After he officially broke the record, Lil Nas X posted a simple message: “YEEE TF HAWWW.”

Lil Nas wrote on Twitter last week, “what we doing to celebrate the billboard record when we break it y’all.” The young 20 year-old rapper also thanked anyone who streamed ‘Old Town Road’ since its release.
