UNITED KINGDOM — (08-03-19) — Universal Pictures‘ “1917” official trailer starring Richard Madden, Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Strong debuts with nearly 4 million views. Amblin Partners and Universal released the official trailer for 1917 on August 1, 2019.

The war genre film is directed by Sam Mendes who also co-wrote the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns of (Showtime’s Penny Dreadful).

Synopsis:
“At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers—Blake’s own brother among them.”

Universal Pictures has scheduled 1917 to be released domestically in limited theaters on December 25, 2019 and wide on January 10, 2020.

Amblin Partners and Universal will distribute the film internationally, with eOne distributing on behalf of Amblin in the U.K.
