SANTA MONICA, CA — (07-31-19) — Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’ trailer has been unleashed starring Academy Award-winner Al Pacino, Academy Award-winner Joe Pesci and Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro.

Scorsese’s long-awaited organized crime movie, The Irishman, tells the story of three men through decades of their lives, going as far back as the 1950s.

All three veteran actors Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Joe Pesci are getting a CGI face-lift to play their characters. In fact the Irishman’s budget of $175 million spent on visual effects to make the lead actors look 30 years younger at different stages in the film.

This is a trend being utilized by Hollywood as you can see the same CGI visual effects in Will Smith’s upcoming Sci-fi thriller Gemini Man.

Synopsis:
“Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci star in Martin Scorsese’s THE IRISHMAN, an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hit-man who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th Century.

Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics.”

Martin Scorsese told executives at Netflix that he wanted ‘The Irishman’ to get a full theatrical release, and Netflix agreed. According to sources at Netflix, the streaming network will expand the limited theatrical run — which means that movie theaters will get to report the movie’s box-office numbers.

With a production budget of $175 million, ‘The Irishman’ is the most expensive project of Martin Scorsese’s career.

“Netflix wants a big footprint for The Irishman,” an inside source told JRL CHARTS. “They’ve put themselves in a position by supporting these kinds of filmmakers where they have to come to grips with the theatrical business model and how it works.”

‘The Irishman’ will world premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 27, 2019. The film will have a limited theatrical release, followed by digital streaming in late 2019 by Netflix.
