LOS ANGELES, CA — (07-31-19) — “Extra” celebrity show host Mario Lopez is in hot water after his comments on Transgender youth came to light yesterday on social media.

LGBTQ advocates were quick to slam the former “Saved by the Bell” actor after his comments on Transgender youths made on the conservative podcast program, “The Candice Owens Show“, came to light.

The interview originally took place back on  June 23, when Mario Lopez was asked about the “weird trend” said host Candice Owens, in Hollywood of celebrity parents allowing their children to “pick their gender.”

“I’ve had children say they were mermaids, I’ve had children say they could fly,” said Candice Owens, a conservative conspiracy nut job and Fox News commentator hustler.

Owens then brought up Charlize Theron, whose 7-year-old child, Jackson, reportedly identifies as transgender. “I am trying to understand this new Hollywood mentality where they just think their children now have the mental authority,” said Owens.

The former grand marshal for the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade, Mario Lopez, responded by saying…“trying to understand it myself,” but was quick to say that he didn’t want Owens to view him as a part of “that whole” group of celebrities.

Lopez said…“Look, I’m never one to tell anyone how to parent their kids obviously and I think if you come from a place of love, you really can’t go wrong,” Lopez, father of three said to Owens in the interview. “At the same time, my God, if you’re 3 years old and you’re saying you’re feeling a certain way or you think you’re a boy or a girl or whatever the case may be … I just think it’s dangerous as a parent to make this determination then. When you’re a kid, you don’t know anything about sexuality yet. You’re just a kid.” said Lopez.

The remarks made by the proud supporter of LGBTQ rights on trans youth on a conservative podcast show, was quite shocking and goes to show you that one should not assemilate into the environment simply to please the host and the show’s audience.

Lopez has always been a strong supporter of the LGBTQ community and it was shocking to hear his comments on a conservative podcast show.

This is nothing new however because many celebrities feel that since conservative media have such low numbers in ratings, no one will know about their appearance. Not in today’s times when every one is monitoring every single media outlet and website, blog, you name it, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Following the fire storm and to immediate get into damage control, Lopez released the following statement in an email sent to media outlets through his press agent.

“The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were,” said Lopez. “I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful,” said Lopez.
